Shuhe Town map

Shuhe Old Town in Lijiang is a well-preserved example of a town along the ancient tea route and one of the earliest settlements of Naxi people's ancestors.

Shuhe (束河) is just five kilometers north of Lijiang Ancient Town and is a popular alternative for travelers who want a more relaxed and peaceful time than the commerial bigger sister of Lijiang.

Despite also being part of the same UNESCO World Heritage Site as Lijiang, it is a smaller, quieter town that has retained less of its old architecture but has much better access to nature, including Jubao Mountain (聚宝山), which is perched on the town's western side, and the majestic Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (玉龙雪山), just a few kilometers to the north.
